What this registry is
The Orbital Asset Registry (OAR) assigns a stable identifier to every catalogued
orbital object and consolidates identity, launch, ownership, orbit, corporate-status and
legal-attribution information into a searchable record. It is an information service. It is
not legal advice, not financial advice, and not an official governmental register.
Legal context, not legal advice
Statements on asset pages about treaty obligations, launching-state liability,
state succession and responsible entities are legal context: attributions of public
international law, made per catalogue owner code, with their legal bases and caveats stated.
The facts of a specific object (joint launches, procured launches, transfers of supervision)
can displace a code-level attribution. Nothing here should be relied on for a legal, insurance,
investment or operational decision without independent professional advice. Treaty citations
link to the Space
Law Corpus (DOI 10.5281/zenodo.21185483), where each authoritative text carries its provenance
and content hash.
Data sources and accuracy
Orbital and catalogue data derive from CelesTrak (SATCAT and GP data), refreshed on a daily schedule.
Corporate status is reported only from authoritative public registries (UK Companies House,
US SEC EDGAR) with per-fact citations and retrieval dates. The state-succession layer is an
open, DOI-minted dataset (DOI 10.5281/zenodo.21193714, CC BY 4.0). All data is provided
as is, on a best-effort basis, without warranty of any kind — accuracy,
completeness, currency and fitness for purpose are expressly not guaranteed, and the operator
accepts no liability for loss arising from reliance on it. Catalogue feeds, registries and
corporate events change faster than any registry can reflect.

Use and attribution
Registry pages may be cited with attribution to the Orbital Asset Registry.
The state-succession dataset is CC BY 4.0 via its Zenodo record. Bulk scraping of this service
is discouraged — the underlying open datasets are the right source for bulk use. This registry
stores no personal data.
